- Been the subject of an unprovoked attack
- Reported the matter to the police as soon as possible and co-operated with them
- Sought medical attention for your personal injury
- The injury occurred within two years of the incident
- You were a dependant or close relative to the person who died from his or her injuries
You can also claim for funeral expenses and loss of income if you were incapacitated for over 28 weeks following the assault.

Making a Claim
If you are one of those unfortunate people who have been the subject of a physical or sexual assault which was not your fault, then there is a Special Government Scheme set up since 1964 to compensate you.
