Criminal Injuries Compensation

Criminal Injuries Compensation
We help people obtain compensation following personal injury sustained as a result of a criminal assault. We can discuss the possibility of a No Win No Fee.

Making a Claim

If you are one of those unfortunate people who have been the subject of a Criminal Assault and have sustained injury as a result, then there is a Special Government Scheme set up since 1964 to compensate you. It is Your legal right but you must make a claim within two years of the incident - you may be able to benefit financially from the Scheme.

If you yourself have not been the subject of an assault but have a close Relative or Dependent who has died as a result of a physical assault, You can certainly make a claim.

This is simply society’s way of empathising with victims of crime and there is no shame in making a claim, as it was set up for people like You.

In order to qualify for a claim you must fulfill the following criteria:
  1. Been the subject of an unprovoked attack
  2. Reported the matter to the police as soon as possible and co-operated with them
  3. Sought medical attention for your personal injury
  4. The injury occurred within two years of the incident
  5. You were a dependent or close relative to the person who died from his or her injuries
You can also claim for funeral expenses and loss of income if you were incapacitated for over 28 weeks following the assault.

Anything you tell us about the incident will be kept confidential – it will only be discussed with the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority or any other organisations we speak with in connection with your claim.
